You Need to Know About Back Pain

Chiropractic Hurst TX Back Pain in Red

Having back and leg pain in Hurst TX can bring life to a standstill.

You might not be able to play golf, work, or even sit in the car for a 30-minute drive. It's almost impossible for anyone around you to understand how you feel. You can't remember the last time you even had a restful night's sleep.

Life is too short to let pain slow you down.

4 things about back pain in Hurst TX

  • Stretching before bed can help ease morning back stiffness. If you wake up in the morning and it takes a while before your back loosens up, gentle stretches before you go to bed may help. Try lying on your back and gently pulling your knees to your chest. Alternatively, you can sit in a chair and pull your knees to your chest. If stiffness persists, discuss with your chiropractor if there are other stretches and exercises that may provide more relief.
  • Back pain is not just old age. Back pain can be caused by many things… Old injuries that never healed properly, pinched nerves, disc bulges, sprain/strain injuries, infection, or cancer. That should give you a basic idea of the many causes, but the list goes on from there. Identifying the source of your pain starts with an in-depth consultation. This allows me to review your condition and medical history. We then will perform a problem-focused exam which includes a general physical exam, neurologic and orthopedic testing. Depending on your health history and exam findings, we will also take a specialized set of X-rays. This will help determine if a spinal problem is contributing to your pain or symptoms.
  • Avoid surgical procedures as long as possible. There is no such thing as a spine transplant, so it is best to consider non-invasive treatments before undergoing the knife. In some cases, surgery is absolutely indicated. However, the vast majority of non-emergent cases of back pain do not require surgery (i.e. no loss of bowel or bladder function, no progressive muscle weakness, or other neurological signs). Most cases of back pain can be treated successfully. To find out if chiropractic can help your specific condition, give our office a call to set up a consultation.
  • Help your back pain by improving your overall health. When you're affected by a chronic condition like back pain it can affect other areas of your health. If you want to help your body heal faster it's also important to focus on your overall health. You can improve your health and decrease your pain by doing simple things like stress management, exercise, getting adequate sleep, quitting smoking, eating better foods and using good lifting mechanics.
